Haley’s Story: Part 2 (Patient Log)
This is the log I kept when I was taking care of Haley. It is extensive and detailed, and I have a few reasons for sharing it. One, if you haven’t decided whether you’d be able to handle home treatment, this log will give you a taste of the work it will require (basically, treating your dog will be your life for a few days). And two, if you’ve already chosen home treatment, this is a good example of a home treatment regiment that proved successful. It might help guide you as well.
A more detailed description of each “medicine”, as well as how much I gave, how, etc. will be on another post. I didn’t give details of amounts here because the amount that dogs need will vary by weight.

This person’s experience is a little different because she used to be a vet or something and could administer shots/IV fluid from home (it would have been nice to have had Haley on IV fluids…that way I wouldn’t have had to worry about her dehydrating as much; but since our trip from the vet she seemed to stay hydrated just fine anyway). Her log is very detailed and helped me out a lot – that’s why I posted my log as well. I figure there are more people who want to treat their dog from home who don’t have veterinary education or licenses under their belt.
