The Cost of Vets

Here is what it cost to keep my sick puppy with vets for two nights. Keep in mind that this is the invoice for a 24/7 emergency animal clinic located in Chicago. Still, it is a good idea of how much it will cost to “heal” your dog at a clinic…a lot. In the next post I will show how much it cost to get all the supplies and medicines I needed to heal my puppy at home.

Description Amount Cost
Emergency Exam 1 $86
Parvo antigen-in house 1 $48
IV catheter placement 2 $50
IV fluid 1st liter 1 $25
ECC level 4 care (Isolation) 2 $300
Hetastarch infusion 1 $50
KCL-additive 1 $2
Dextrose-additive 1 $2
Reglan-additive 1 $12
B-vitamin additive 1 $1
Unasyn injection 5 $200
Zantac injection 4 $48

Altogether, this cost $1,968.60. And it would have been much more if we’d kept her there as long as the vets told us we should.
