How did my puppy GET parvo??

Honestly, there is not much you could have done in regards to where you took your dog, etc. to keep it from getting parvo. So don’t blame yourself. Parvo is EVERYWHERE…adult dogs can carry it and release it through their stool (they just won’t have symptoms), birds can carry it, cats can carry it…even humans can bring it into their homes on their hands, etc. Parvo lasts a long time in its environment, including the ground – up to 7 months. It is a VERY strong virus and does not die in extreme temperatures or weather conditions, and can basically only be killed by bleach.

So if your puppy DOESN’T have parvo and you don’t want it to get parvo, this is what I would recommend you do:

Feed it raw. (I will probably write more on this later…I 100% believe in raw meat/fresh produce diets being the best for dogs)
Do NOT get it vaccinated for ANYTHING. If you absolutely want to get your puppy vaccinated for parvo, wait until it’s at least a little older, not while it’s a tiny pupppy with a weak immune system.
If it was weaned before it was 8 weeks old, it didn’t get all the nutrients it needed from its mother’s milk (this is probably the main reason my puppy got parvo – she was weaned at 6 weeks, maybe younger). In this case give your puppy New Zealand Colostrum daily. You can order it Wolf Creek Ranch (http://www.wolfcreekranch.net/100_new_zealand_colostrum.html) or get it at your local Whole Foods or a store like it.
For extreme measures, give it Parvaid 4x daily.

I want to thank you for your information….I actually used previous knowledge and the wolf creek site when my 2 month old litter came down (starting with one of them)….Under the circumstances I placed the first to get ill under vet care (can’t begin to afford it) but ended caring for the other two before they showed symptoms with ‘home made gatorade’, a store bought preparation of echinacia, golden seal and oregon grape root and made a tea of peppermint, spearmint, chamomile. yarrow, elderberry leaves, a bit of sea salt, honey. All i can say is it worked better than the vet…they all lived but the two i cared for at home thrived quicker and with less damage, never developed bloody diarrhea, though i really thought i would lose the first to get ill. I also happened to have aloe vera juice handy. Isn’t it wonderful to feel the empowerment of our wonderful natural universe when we intuitively, lovingly tune in…I believe every illness can be healed and, as you know, best prevented….One outstanding idea confirmed with this challenging bout was how easy it is to grow the family of mints and how healing they are….it goes on and on…thank you so much for maintaining a large informative site. I needed the encouragment, reality check, etc. Bless us all in our holy endeavors….kw

I am so honored and grateful to know I have helped you! It’s true, it is very empowering to know I can heal my dog, on my own, using holistic medicine – and even largely fatal illnesses at that! I applaud your hard work in caring for your puppies at home, and it’s great to hear they are all alive.
