Factors that Raise the Likelihood of Parvo
- Factors that raise the likelihood that your puppy has parvo:
- You feed your dog dry dog food and/or other junk food (table scraps, etc.)
- Your puppy is very young (the older the dog, the stronger its body is; however, I’ve heard of dogs as old as 2 years getting parvo)
- Your puppy was weaned when it was younger than 8 weeks old
- Your puppy gets little exercise (and is therefore not as healthy as it could be)
- Your puppy is a Rottweiler, Doberman Pinscher, or Labrador Retriever (these breeds are more susceptible)
- Your puppy is stressed (can be caused by any number of factors – prior conditions at animal shelters, abusive treatment by previous owners, change of diet or environment, etc.)
- Your puppy was vaccinated for parvo within the past 3-14 days
